LIFE AS IT IS

What Are You Feeling Now?

imgresThat was the recurring question in last weekend’s Opening the Heart course. What are you feeling? Where are you feeling it in your body, and what are the physical sensations?

There is a huge difference in physical vitality when I feel my feelings, not just know I have them. To be able to diagnose my feelings is certainly better than not knowing what I’m feeling.

Here’s the deal. When I’m angry or sad or hurt, if I just acknowledge it, but don’t FEEL it or express it (press it out), then it grows in the dark, like a mushroom. It creates dis-ease – literally and figuratively. If I express my anger fully (not in public), it goes away. It’s “pressed out”/expressed/gone!

When I feel feelings of love, peace, gratitude, they expand. Like when I tell my grandchildren how much I love them, I feel even more love for them. My love grows.

The Big Secret about Feelings – if I want more of the feelings that connect me even more to myself and others – if I say them, mean them, feel them, they bloom. If I want less of the emotions that isolate me, separate me from others – if I say them, mean them, feel them, they go away.

PS One caution:  feel feelings fully, then move on ….don’t get addicted to the drama of feeling the same emotion. Emotions come and go. They don’t hang around on their own.
