LIFE AS IT IS

The Pancake Model

In order for a pancake to cook on both sides, it’s important to have the bottom side stable enough to Imgres hold the whole pancake together when it’s turned over. How I know it’s stable enough is by the amount of bubbles that burst on the top side. If I turn that pancake over before enough bubbles have burst, it ends up being an inedible mess.

Similarly, I imagine my current issue, or growth edge, like a pancake, and life is the fire beneath the pan. Until I have enough lifeshocks (things that happen) about the same issue, the desired change doesn’t integrate. Sometimes I need 37 lifeshocks, sometimes only 10 – depends on how deeply buried the issue is.  Each of those burst bubbles solidfies my new stand, stablizing it. I know when I’ve had enough lifeshocks (like enough bubbles on the pancake), because I'm different. I handle the new lifeshocks/bubbles with aplomb!

(I call this the Flipping Point.)

  1. I love pancakes, and this post, too. How on earth did you come up with this metaphor? I’m–once again–happily amazed by creativity.
I’m ready for a change, so I’m willing to stand in the frying pan. Thank you for this view of the number of lifeshocks some things take.
