Feminine DNA – Masculine DNA

When I look at our primal imprint, the men provide and protect – bringing home the meat and killing saber-toothed tigers – it’s in their DNA.  Women nurture and heal – providing spiritual balm for the body and soul – it’s in their DNA. That’s at a primal level. At today’s more evolved level, it’s not that clear cut, but it does seem to be the background against which our foreground plays out.

Eg of provide/protect:  Troy and Rebecca moved in with me for a few months, while their home was being built. Mind you, I’ve been living on my own for 30+ years, so it was a shock to feel the loss of ‘safety’ when they moved into their new home, and Troy was no longer there at night. That was the imprint of the “protect” mode that I didn’t even know was there.

Eg of nurture/heal:  A friend of mine came rushing to my house one morning, buried his head in my lap and started crying. He had just had his second car wreck in 5 days and was at a loss as to what was happening in his life. I didn’t try to ‘fix’ him, I just listened and made him some breakfast. He left feeling much better, even thougImages-3h his car was still bashed in.

Men seem to bond over a common task – building things, killing things, fixing things -
making things happen. Women seem to bond over a common task – birthing, dying, healing, networking to support families and friends.

I've heard men complaining about women not being proactive enough; and women complaining that men are not social enough. It works best when men and women are both appreciated for all they bring to the family and to the world. It takes both.

Oh, and regarding sexuality, Roy Whitten and I were co-leading the Sexuality Workshop for the More To Life Program, and we worked it out this way – women bond in order to have sex, men have sex in order to bond. And to make sure it worked both ways, Life made sex a compelling experience. Pretty smart to work it that way – yet another example of ensuring promulgation of the species.
