Sibling-hood

Not long ago, my grandson was seriously ill for a couple of weeks. The doctors ran tests; all of which came up negative. But he was still vomiting and had diarrhea, unable to retain what he ate – getting thinner and thinner. It was a scary time.

I asked family, friends, and FaceBook for healing thoughts. I was astonished at the response. Even though he came through that illness seemingly unscathed, people still ask how he's doing.

A similar incident happened with a friend of mine. Many people were involved in prayers, wellness advice and healing vibes for this young man. Now he is among the 4% that have survived that particular illness. So many people pulling for the best outcome for another … humanity at its best. I truly feel "enfolded" – a part of something good that is shared by like-hearted souls.

It reminded me of times in my family – 8 kids, and the familial bond of "for-ness" (vs against-ness) that we experienced when we were at our best. Brotherhood/sisterhood, an alliance, a kinship that went beyond blood relations, because it was for the common good of us all.

ImagesIt occurred to me that sibling-hood is a tie that holds ALL of us together. When our ego starts messing with our heads, and we forget that we are all on this one tiny little planet hanging in the middle of vastness; then something happens to our siblings in some part of our world, and we are reminded of our sibling-hood.

What will it take for us to make this stand a more conscious, obvious one?
