On Being Ruthless
I have a very mean ruthless streak – critical and unforgiving. Example: I used to dread Monday mornings after training The More To Life Weekend. My mindtalk was excoriating – pointing out all the things I didn't do that I should have done, and all the things I should have done that I didn't. I seriously wondered if the spiritual high of the weekend was worth the ensuing torment. (Eventually I learned the honing value of a debrief.)
This last weekend, I turned that ruthless streak to my benefit. I started clearing 30 years of acccumulated detritus – clothes, shoes, tchotchkes from my trips, sentimental gifts, kitchen things, vases, lids with no bottoms, miscellaneous cords to ???, 28 airplane sleep masks, etc. The first wave of
shedding the excess was easy. In the process, several things I really love got unburied. The second wave of shedding took some sternness.
Now I'm on the third wave. This is where my ruthlessness is coming in handy. If I haven't worn it or used it in the last 2 years, out it goes. Except for my books, I still have 9 bookcases, determined to downsize to 5. I may never read some of those books again, but they are friends. And except for some of my objets d'art. Except for ……
Ok, Ruthlessness, don't fail me now!
These always hit the spot because I believe there is much of shared experience within them.
I find ‘post holidays’ bring a similar response. Living fully in a minimalist environment for five weeks (caravan) reveals the clutter of functioning at home. NOW I’m preparing for similar ‘waves’ of clearing, to bring light in that allows me to be more creative and free flowing. (starting end August). Many thanks again.
OK, which of my family put you up to this? How many of my friends have been urging you to share bold support with me. I was planning a really relaxed Saturday and now I am all jazzed about getting after it. Where can you rent one of those huge dumpsters? Thanks, Ann.

Ah, yes! My only No is to shedding clothes I haven’t worn in 2 years or even 5 years. Many items that fell into that category were originally for trips to England or South Africa in the winter, and they now have permanent residence in New Zealand. Austin was too warm for them, but I didn’t want to part with them. They’re perfect here.
That’s the kind of image that i really thing is super image like. If more images very real like this were out there we’d be super full of graet images in the world.
Hmm is anyone else experiencing problems with the images on this blog loading? I’m trying to find out if its a problem on my end or if it’s the blog. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
