Thermodynamics – the Second Law
John McAllister, smart dude with an altruistic heart, was kibitzing with me about the last post, challenging my lateral thinking (aka horizontal imagination vs vertical logic). OK, it's true. And here we go.
The Second Law of Thermodynamcis states that "in all energy exchanges, if no energy enters or leaves the system, the potential energy of the state will always be less than that of the initial state, commonly referred to (if you are a scientist) as entropy. Entropy wins when organisms cease to take in energy and die."
Experientially, I get it. Physically I die if I don't take in nutrition. Same ending happens if I refuse to excrete that which my body no longer finds useful. An energy exchange. Not allowing people into and out of my life? I know what that's like, and I don't like it.
Entropy, or energy collapsing into itself, is a measure of disorder, or, as I would say, dis-ease. Our
cells, our ecosystems, our solar system are NOT disordered and therefore have low entropy. However, it is the flow of energy (which some might call change or chaos) that maintains order and life.
Amen!
When I'm in that flow of energy, I feel alive, free, in sync with everything in that specific moment. I'm essentially myself and permeable. In that exchange of energy, I offer what I can, receive what I can. Because of that exchange, I become less of who I'm not, and more of who I am.
When I collapse inwardly, it's usually because I have built a protective wall around myself, trying to establish a safe, orderly world – which, unaddressed, becomes my prison.
This design is wicked! You certainly know how to keep a reader entertained. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Fantastic job. I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!

Howdy! This post couldn’t be written any better! Reading this post reminds me of my good old room mate! He always kept talking about this. I will forward this article to him. Fairly certain he will have a good read. Many thanks for sharing!

Saved as a favorite, I really like your web site!
Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this site. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very difficult to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and visual appearance. I must say that you’ve done a great job with this. In addition, the blog loads extremely fast for me on Opera. Superb Blog!
